Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, the American and British sitarist. She was the first person in her age group to be awarded the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was a child who bounded back and forth from London and New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. In 1999, she completed her high school studies in Encinitas CA. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. Her father was with her to numerous performances over several years. The singer made Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. In 2002, she released her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. The stage is a very large part of her career. She's performed at many major venues all over the globe. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. Bapi The Love of My Life is a illustrated biographical work she penned in 2002. The book pays tribute to her father who died in the year 2000. Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in a number of films. In 2003, she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she is an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to unfold and we're likely to see a variety of things from her in years to come. Anoushka lived a long traveling between London and Delhi in her early years. Then, she relocated to California to finish high school. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies when she was nine. A few years later she performed her music debut with the sitar Delhi for her father's 70th birthday celebration. Her father traveled around across the world with her and she also gained a variety of opportunities. While still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament as recognition of her talent and musicianship within performing in the Asian Arts.
